Pain is a 3-letter word which describes countless situations in our lives. Pain is the body's uncomfortable warning signal when it is overstimulated. There are different types of pain and pain can be a symptom of different conditions. It can be steady, throbbing, stabbing, aching, pinching or described in many other ways. Pain is classified as acute or chronic. Acute pain is usually severe and short-lived, and often signals that your body has been injured.
Physical pain releases substances that stimulate the pain receptors of pain nerves. When a pain nerve is stimulated, a signal goes to the spinal cord and then to the brain. Pain perception takes place in the brain.
Pain causes
It can be caused by many different types of physical stimuli, such as heat or cold, trauma or damage to tissues. There are different types of somatic or physical pain, such as:
- Headache
- Abdominal pain
- Back pain
- Neck pain
- Earache
- Nerve pain
- Shoulder pain
- Knee pain
- Ankle pain
- Inflammatory pain
- Muscle pain
A combination of emotional and physical pain also occurs. We call this variant psychosomatic pain or mixed pain. It is therefore both mental and physical. Experience shows that under almost all physical pain listed above, old heartache from traumatic experiences is also stored.
Types of pain
A distinction is often made between chronic pain and acute pain. In chronic pain, the patient learns to live with it as long as they mentally consent to it. Acute or short-term pain involves physical trauma. There is also pain from incurable illnesses such as cancer.
Symptoms
Pain is an unbearable discomfort. It can be unpleasant or stabbing and can occur locally or throughout your body. Tissue pain usually disappears when the injury or inflammation goes away. Sciatica is chronic pain, often described as burning, stinging, itching, cold or numb. Touching can make the pain worse. The pain is not always in the same place. Pain is different for each person and is a very subjective phenomenon.
Causes
Pain experience takes place for one simple reason: to protect you. It goes back to the “fight or flight” instinct. A person can only tolerate a certain amount of pain. With Energetic Therapy, pain can be relieved or by identifying the cause, it can disappear as soon as it is meant to.
