Hypochondria makes you constantly notice your own body and thus experience everything. A hypochondriac sees common physical symptoms (such as cramping, stinging, dry mouth, headaches) as signs of a very serious illness. These physical symptoms are symptoms of underlying anxiety and panic. Even if your doctor has examined you carefully and found nothing the fear of that serious illness remains. He or she can hardly reassure you. Unfortunately, you continuously keep seeking that reassurance. This keeps the fear of this serious illness or illnesses alive.
At times when anxiety prevails, you may experience the following symptoms:
- feeling like you are losing control, going crazy or dying.
- vomiting or diarrhoea, nausea, dry mouth or stomach pain.
- feeling that you no longer know who you are or where you are;
- trembling, palpitations, chills or dizziness
- chest discomfort and tightness
- numbness or tingling in feet and or feet
- fainting, fainting or headaches
Hypochondria or fear of illness occurs when a hypochondriac thinks he or she is suffering from a fatal illness. All kinds of body symptoms are generally considered signs of cramping, itching or stinging appropriate to a serious illness. Reassuring someone mentally is difficult. More is needed. He or she wants to be continuously examined by a doctor for possible ailments. Referrals to internists are commonplace here.

How do you treat?
Employing a psychologist often does not work adequately because deep and entrenched heartbreak underlies it. Just talking will not get this stuck energy moving. Mental well-meaning advice does not work sufficiently and is more like symptom control. Hospital examinations time and again do not reveal any disease. In fact, there is no medical cause at all. It is an anxiety disorder stemming from previous traumatic experiences, conditioning and or grief. A fanatical hypochondriac costs health insurers a lot of money.

Fear and panic attacks
An anxiety and fretting disorder can be inherited. Sometimes 1 generation back but sometimes two. At that point, my mediumship around the corner. Not always the parents or grandparents are still alive.
How can hypochondria occur?
In my opinion, due to a traumatic experience during pregnancy, childhood or teenage years where a family member has previously died due to a gripping illness process. See the illustration below of a client in this regard.

Experiences of hypochondriac client
Got in touch with Jyotisha through a former colleague. Was stuck in my life. A lot of stress, no rest and in addition a lot of physical complaints which in turn caused a lot of sickness and agony. And so the circle kept turning. I suffered from this syndrome and the life pattern it created for years. Some periods more intense than others. I had previously followed coaching programmes and consulted regular doctors. It didn't help or didn't help enough. Did not visit other complementary counsellors before. The syndrome had a daily impact on my life. During six months, I had 5 consultations within the life coaching programme. Including the free online life coaching HappydePeppie to review instructions (homework) before each session.
After each session, I was more relaxed in terms of feeling and gained an awful lot of new insights. For instance, we linked the hypergondria to the death of my mother and her 3-year illness when I was a teenager. Despite psychological help at the time, I suffered a lot from grief. This was underneath the hypergondria, so to speak. Created fears of all kinds of illnesses because I had not processed my mother's death and loss. This was completely resolved with the 5 energetic treatments at the end of each coaching session consultation after consultation.
Developed a clarifying vision of my own behaviour with Jyotisha and through the process of the coaching programme and received affirmations for no longer identifying with these old fears. Also went to inquire with my aunts and suddenly visited my mother's grave. Now live much more in the here and now and enjoy life and my own family with 2 children much more intensely. Less anxiety and stress about illnesses and less fear that my wife would disappear from my life like my mother. Jyo has been a fantastic help for me in my road to recovery. Would definitely recommend him for the Life Coaching programme. Just do it!
How can you get on with hypochondria or fear of illness?
At least not by rejecting thoughts, nor by starting to count them and keep lists. Then the fears and panic attacks become more frequent er more intense.
Based on my experiences with clients struggling with anxiety disorders, the route is roughly via the five-step plan below:
- Disconnect from identification with the fear. Is the fear even yours. Could it belong to 1 of your parents or grandparents?
- Being grateful for the thoughts towards mental thinking. Not continuously staying in battle mode with it.
- Work with me in the role of therapist and medium to scan your life or recognise life patterns of Hypochondria and the fatigue you have from it over the years.
- Locating the very first traumatic experience within the pattern of life as a hypochondriac.
- Through a special energetic treatment, process this trauma.
